Working at Midtown Community School
Finding a school environment that aligns with your vision of education is important. At Midtown Community School, we believe that students thrive when they are known, challenged, and developed as whole people. We also believe that the development of students begins with the development of adults. We cannot give away what we do not possess. Therefore, we are committed to growing professionally and personally so that we can model the learning, reflection, and leadership we seek to cultivate in every student.
We cultivate the growth of the whole person.
We believe that effective educators continually develop their mind, heart, body, and soul. Personal and professional growth is not optional. It is essential to our ability to serve students and one another.
You:
- Pursue continuous learning and improvement.
- Engage in reflection that deepens self-awareness and effectiveness.
- Model the growth mindset, resilience, and ownership we expect from students.
We honor identity and strengthen community.
We believe every individual brings unique gifts, experiences, and perspectives that strengthen our collective community. We help students discover who they are and understand how their identity contributes to the world around them.
You:
- Create environments where people are known, valued, and respected.
- Celebrate the unique strengths and contributions of every individual.
- Foster meaningful relationships that build belonging, trust, and connection.
We prepare students for success and meaningful impact.
We intentionally equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in school and in life. Through rigorous academics and meaningful experiences, we develop learners who can lead themselves and positively influence others.
You:
- Use knowledge-rich curriculum, project-based learning, and authentic learning experiences to build deep understanding.
- Employ restorative practices and reflective opportunities that develop accountability, self-awareness, and growth.
- Cultivate leadership, ownership, and critical thinking so students can contribute meaningfully to their communities.
We lead with accountability, restoration, and purpose.
We honor commitments to ourselves, one another, and our school community. We recognize that leadership is influence. We take responsibility for strengthening relationships, restoring harm, and contributing to a healthy community.
You:
- Act with integrity and follow through on our commitments.
- Engage in reflection, accountability, and restoration when challenges arise.
- Use our sphere of influence to serve others, strengthen community, and inspire positive change.
